Spring Rainbow Collage

It is so hard to believe that spring break has arrived and that we have two weeks of rest ahead of us.  I am super excited to start my spring running and spend time with our grand daughter expected to be born in early April!!!

The children are flowing beautifully from one activity to another. At this time of year they have many favourite books, games, songs and activities including the Wombat Wobble!! I uploaded a mini-clip on FreshGrade so be sure to watch it.

Recently, the children have explored tape art using tempera paint sticks and tape. They have also continued with transient art making small sculptures and after spring break will be making sculptures to bring home using a variety of materials including cardboard, clay, and wire.

This past week I began to introduce spring activities in the atelier, with pastel colours added including egg dying, rainbow collage art, mirror painting and pastel paint colours at the easel. I also added pastel lego and spring story workshop materials to their play. A felt / wood rainbow will support their continued interest in rainbows.

We will be doing an egg hunt in the forest (using plastic eggs) and some fun easter art after spring break.

I have completed the late winter math assessment and uploaded it to your child's FreshGrade portfolio. This past week I began to assess their word recognition as we want to practice kindergarten sight words in the remaining months of school. We will be continuing with our alphabet activities, blending sounds together to make consonant /vowel /consonant words and play rhyming games.

Miss McDonald is busy writing her teaching plans for her upcoming practicum which begins in April and lasts for six weeks. She will be teaching Math, Social Studies, PE and Science during her six weeks. Mrs. Hilland and I will be with her in the classroom, as this is her first practicum, to support both the children and MIss McDonald.

I have completed the personal safety program but will continue the conversation with your children as moments arise for the remainder of the school year.

I wanted to end with a few video clips of the room. After I prepared Thursday morning it was so beautiful I wanted to make mini clips for families. I am still having random difficulty accessing Freshgrade so will just add to the bottom of this newsletter.
