The children enjoyed working with their Grade Two Buddies building gingerbread houses to take home. We had so many creative solutions and encouraged the children to work together. Thank you to Jessica, Kendra and Mr. R. for helping with the children.
My little hubby elf made me an early Christmas gift for the classroom. These tessellations will be a playful addition to our math tubs.
Even though our Playful Inquiry on Patterns finished a few weeks ago the children continue to grow their knowledge. Here are a few more treasures the children made this week.
Christmas Village arranged by Wyatt
Christmas art created by Willow and Cruz
I have added a couple of special Christmas play centres this month; Christmas tinker toys and Christmas village which have been enjoyed by the children.
This week will be quiet as so many of our families are busy with Christmas activities. We will remain onsite and enjoy Christmas stories, songs and crafts. The family presents are 90% complete and children are just working on gift tags and gift bags. Thank you for the bubble wrap to keep our gifts safe as they are carried home.
We have sent home the tree ornaments and I have set up two more crafts for the children to enjoy this week in addition to cardboard gingerbread man from last week. We will also send home the Reindeer handprints that have been decorating our room for families to enjoy.
We will be using the leftover icing and candies to decorate gingerbread cookies Wednesday afternoon. We plan on sharing them with our Grade Two buddies on Friday afternoon.
Our visit to see Frozen 2 will be on Wednesday and I have been advised that we have to leave immediately after attendance. We will be travelling by school district bus. There will not be popcorn or drinks available, so please make sure that your child has a robust breakfast to carry them through the morning. Ben's father, Matt, will accompany our class on the bus and sit with us at the theatre.
This week we will have a few VIU pre-service teachers visiting our room. They are very interested in Kindergarten and eager to observe the children.
Some of the children have asked to stay inside during the fifteen minute afternoon break Tues-Fri so I have offered to stay in the classroom and put on a Christmas story video. Those children who wish to go outside for the afternoon break will continue to do so. This will continue all week.
